Things you would never see in America.

I have had a very busy week and will catch up on events in a different post but wanted to share some photos I took yesterday while (whilst) shopping. The title of the post is self-explanatory.

Beans, beans and more beans. Lots of Heinz beans.

Holy instant coffee selection!

Stuff related to air drying clothing. Who’s grandmother had a clothes line? Mine did.

“Airers” for all! I have one in my apartment (but also a dryer). The airer is making for a nice clothes rack.

Fish or potted meat, anyone?

More yummy stuff like this more upscale potted beef and various pates.

Hot dogs in jars and cans. Probably just as gross as ours in plastic.

No caption needed.

Tailors. There’s nothing more sharp than a perfectly fitted fine wool suit. This one I am very jealous of.

Laurence introduced Vashti to potted meat the last year of her life (she loved it!). I think the Flannel and Tweed sign may be the British-est thing ever. 😉

  4. Hi Melanie, Actually, I love drying my clothes on the clothesline in my back yard.  Nothing beats the fresh smell of clothes that have air-dried in the sun.  (I will admit I am old when I can no longer use my clothesline.)  LOL!   Thanks for sharing this neat insight into shopping opportunities in England.  It looks like their shelves are full to overflowing; no food shortage there. And real honest-to-goodness tailor shops, imagine that.  I’ll bet they have authentic shoe repair stores too. Sharon
