I can’t believe I have already been in England a week yesterday. I feel pretty comfortable now. I can get to and from the rescue easily on my borrowed bike, I can walk to a grocery store, and there are enough restaurants nearby to keep me from getting bored with my own cooking.

I do love getting up early enough to make a full breakfast and enjoy my coffee before heading to the rescue. Eggs, bacon, toast, and I am figuring out English breakfast sausages. I have Lincolnshire at the moment. Similar to ours but milder and different seasonings. I love going to the stores here! You all know I love my food.

I feel comfortable with my bit at the rescue and I look forward to seeing the cats. This weekend I will get to see several go to their forever homes. It’s a constant flow of in and out. I also have a couple of favorites who are permanent residents and it’s good that Delta will no longer fly companion animals on International flights. Mental note: Fly American next time. Ha! After getting back from volunteering I have lunch and then start my paying job at 1. It has been a really busy week all the way around and coupled with riding the bike, I am tired. However, without being able to work these two weeks, I never would be able to stay this long, so–no complaints! The weather has been beautiful the past two days at 69-70, like an early spring Tennessee day. Yes, I know how hot it is back home!

On our day off this week I went to Huddersfield station and met their famous station cat, Bolt. His predecessor, Felix, was VERY well known and even had a train named after her. Sadly, she passed away last year but the station of course had pictures of her prominently displayed and she is still very much missed. Huddersfield turned out to be a really nice town to walk around and shop in. Old village shop fronts, a few still containing local businesses, while heavily interspersed with the likes of “Dubai Barber” and “Istanbul Burgers.” India and the Middle East are well represented here. (The curries are amazing!) My train back to Bradford was cancelled last minute so yet again a stressful issue of figuring out how to get back here. I was packed into a train to Leeds just like rush hour on the NYC subway. I hate not being able to drive, but it simply is not an option and in reality, I am doing quite well. Looking forward to a busy weekend at the rescue and more of this nice weather.

And for those asking for pictures of my apartment, please see below!
